Light

Sansevieria Sayuri prefers bright, indirect light. You should place it by a window that has filtered sunlight. Be sure to avoid exposing your plant to the direct sunlight for long periods of time, especially when it is hot in the afternoon. Too much exposure to the direct sunlight can cause leaf burning and damage the plant. We suggest that you occasionally consider rotating your plant. This will be beneficial to all the sides of the plant – ensuring they all receive the right amount of light.

Water

Sansevieria Sayuri plants have low watering needs. This plant is a drought-tolerant plant.  You can water your plant every two to four weeks in the growing season. Ensure that you don’t overwater this plant, as that can lead to root rot. In the fall and winter months, you should reduce how much you water your plant.

Soil

Your Sansevieria Sayuri thrives most in a well-draining soil that lets water to easily pass through. You can make a soil mix for your plant with a regular potting soil and adding perlite or coarse sand to help with the drainage. Don’t allow your plant to be in soil that is too soggy for long periods of time, as this plant is susceptible to root rot. For optimal growth, the pH level that you should aim for is between 6.0 and 7.0. The soil should be loose and airy, to let oxygen to reach the roots of the plant.

Temperature

Average to warm temperatures for a Sansevieria Sayuri plant are best. The best range for this plant is between 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t let your plant in too cold of temperatures. Any temperature that is below 50 degrees can be harmful to the plant. It could even lead to slower growth for your plant. As much as you should avoid too cold of temperatures, also protect your plant from heat sources like heaters or radiators. Heat sources can dry out or scorch the leaves.

Humidity

Sansevieria Sayuri plants have low humidity needs. This plant is well-adapted to average indoor humidity levels. The indoor humidity range that your plant will do best in ranges from 30% to 60%. To increase humidity levels, you can mist the leaves of your plant occasionally, group plants together, provide a humidity tray, and use a humidifier. 

Fertilizer 

Low fertilizing requirements for the Sansevieria Sayuri! This plant doesn’t need to be fertilized frequently. If you want to fertilize your plant, the best time do it is in the spring and summer months. You can fertilize your plant by diluting it to half or one-quarter of the suggested dosage on the packages label. You can apply this once a month (during spring and summer). Don’t fertilize your plant in the cooler months like fall and winter, as they don’t require as many nutrients.

Growth Rate

Sansevieria Sayuri plants can reach a mature height that ranges of 2 to 3 feet, though this can vary. This plant doesn’t grow very fast. It’s known for its slow to moderate growth rate. Your plants growth rate is dependent on various factors such as light, temperature, watering, fertilization, pot size, plus the plants overall health and wellness.
